That cheerful bell is one of the most familiar sounds of Christmas. What shopper hasn’t enjoyed the ringing, tinkling as they “rush home with their treasures?” Sometimes the bells are accompanied by singing and occasionally by trumpets, trombones and sometimes a tuba.

And so many community leaders and famous folks get into the act, cheerfully ringing and waving, “Merry Christmas!” Bells have been rung by comedian Bob Hope, Mr. Bean, and even Snoopy. The Salvation Army chased foot traffic with the kettle bells, but there is not that much foot traffic because of the pandemic, so you can make your own donation page!

Help ‘Rescue Christmas’: Salvation Army behind on Red Kettle Campaign

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Salvation Army of Savannah needs your help as its annual Red Kettle Campaign continues.

Organizers say they’re behind on their $300,000 fundraising goal to “Rescue Christmas” at a time when requests for services are at an all-time high due to COVID-19.

Metro Atlanta gives back in a big way during 11Alive’s 38th Annual Can-A-Thon

ATLANTA — For the 38th year, 11Alive partnered with The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta to host the annual Holiday Can-A-Thon. Publix served as the title sponsor for the Dec. 4 canned-good drive.
